How “Longo” can you go?

This past Wednesday at the World Cycling Championships in Australia, 52-year-old Jeannie Longo-Ciprelli placed 5th in the Time Trial race discipline. This is where the best female elite cyclists don high-tech, aerodynamic bikes and gear then race against the clock one by one over a predetermined distance. The fastest wins. Racing against others who are 20-30 years her junior, she placed 5th out of 39 of the absolute best female riders in the world.

She is a shining example of finding an athletic or activity based passion and maintaining it! Freak of nature? No! A fierce competitor, very hard worker determined to stay in elite shape and form? Yes!

Whether you are male or female, if you ever find yourself  moaning and groaning about how you just don’t feel like exercising or feel the way you used to when you were young….get over it and get moving!  The more you exercise, the better your body adapts and rewards you with higher work capacities, energy levels and better overall conditioning.  You will be rewarded with such long-lasting ability too if you choose, its all about staying consistent…end of story!

52 years old and still world class...Wow!
